Our Young Composer Concert fosters the growth of youth musicians into emerging composers, with an emphasis on equity; we aim to change the conception about what classical music is, who writes it, and who consumes it. The program is totally free for interested local youth.

The participants, all between the ages of eight and eighteen, compose a brand new original work for Pierrot ensemble over the course of six months, concluding with a concert in which a professional ensemble performs & records their pieces.

Beyond composing, they also collectively produce the performance, learning both the musical and non-musical skills necessary for promoting their work and sharing it with the public, all under the guidance of our staff and a network of professional mentors.

As a result of our program, participants are prepared to take on a variety of creative futures.
