Thinkery 21: Listen Up!

Tune in to Thinkery21: Listen Up! for science and sound in perfect harmony. Thinkery is teaming up with Golden Hornet and Alamo Drafthouse Mueller for a booming block party featuring artists, musicians, scientists and designers who explore sound in innovative ways. Have a jam session with a robot, trace the shape of a wave, or listen to the Sound of Science. No matter how you hear it, this is sure to be one of #Thinkery21’s greatest hits.

The Sound of Science – Preview a cello and electronics performance of new music from upcoming The Sound of Science, courtesy of Golden Hornet.

Austin Musician History 101 – Austin History Center, Austin Public Libraryshowcases famous musicians born ‘n raised in the Live Music Capital of the World—Austin, of course.

Get Into the Groove – Go Dance brings various genres of dance to get you movin’ and groovin’.

Robo-Beats – Jam out with Ponytrap's robotic drums.

Guess Who? – Get warmed up for Golden Hornet‘s The Sound of Science with a matching game of music to scientist.

YOU ROCK! – Create a “rock band” (using literal rocks) using Makey Makey, one of Thinkery EdExchange’s greatest hits.

String Quartet Smackdown IV

In its fourth year and slated for yet another highly successful and sold-out performance, this bracketed, NCAA-basketball tournament style competition brings original string quartet compositions head-to-head in front of a live, participatory audience which determines the winner. It's like March Madness for the ears! Submissions were accepted from around the world, and the sixteen finalists will have their works performed by Invoke. Click the image for more information.
