String Quartet Smackdown V

In its fifth year and slated for yet another highly successful and sold-out performance, this NCAA-inspired tournament competition brings original string quartet compositions head-to-head in front of a live audience. It's like March Madness for the ears!

A panel of judges - including composer/musicians Maja S.K. Ratkje of Norway, Erdem Helvacioglu of New York City, and Eun Lee with the nonprofit The Dream Unfinished - selected the sixteen finalist compositions to be performed live at the "String Quartet Smackdown" at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Invoke will perform the compositions in four bracketed rounds.

The live audience in attendance will determine the winner by voting for their favorite pieces in each round. The winner of each round moves on in the tournament... and the champion will receive a grand prize of $1,500! Hosted by Graham Reynolds and Kate Murray.
