My name is Ian Shaw and I am currently attending Tulane University in New Orleans as an architect major. Although architecture was always a strong interest of mine throughout my childhood, my main driver before college was music. Between playing piano, composing music, being a bassist in my high school's orchestra and jazz band, and playing bass for various bluegrass, jazz, and blues gigs, music took up a lot of time. Now, even though my plate is filled with an entirely new set of curricula and activities, I have found that there are many ways in which music and architecture are interlinked. In the future, I hope to keep exploring these connections and to continue approaching my architectural career from the perspective of a musician.
