Sarah Ann Boughton is a musician and composer who pioneered as the first jazz violinist to attend The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Sarah continued her education at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, where she studied for a masters in performance-based ethnomusicology, specializing in Cuban and Brazilian folk music. Following this she was offered a place at the renowned National Film and Television School, where she was had the opportunity to compose soundtracks for a variety of different media and entertainment genres.

Currently based in London, Sarah has a keen interest in audio-visual and cross-arts collaborations, and is always prepared to lend her diverse composition and arrangement skills to new projects. Past collaborations include organizing the string section for a Bob Marley tribute concert at the Hackney Empire, arranging orchestral additional parts for pop covers recorded at Abbey Road Studios, and composing for Blue Lapis Light, a contemporary aerial dance company based in Austin, Texas.

Sarah also composes and arranges commercial soundtracks for the company Rush Music Ltd., whose clients include Peroni, Cancer Research UK, Care Africa and Vax/Hoover, and gigs regularly with The Velveteen Orkestra and her own song-writing project Jipsy.
