STring quartet smackdown IV

String Quartet Smackdown is a bracketed, NCAA March Madness style competition which brings original string quartet compositions head-to-head in front of a live, participatory audience.

Smackdown IV is set for February 2018, and we're calling on all composers & musicians worldwide to submit pieces for a chance at the champion's prize.

Young Composer ConcerT 2018

Our 3rd annual Young Composer Concert invites Austin- area youth ages 12-18 to create original pieces of music for a live concert under the guidance of seasoned mentors. A professional ensemble performs their pieces, and the event is produced by the collective team of students.

The concert will take place in March 2018, and boasts numerous benefits for participants.

The Sound of Science

The Sound of Science will be be a concert and album presenting eight pieces of music written by seven celebrated composers for amplified cello and electronics, to be performed by world-renowned cellist Jeffrey Zeigler, long time member of Kronos Quartet.  

The unique collaboration will premiere in New York City Fall of 2018, followed by premieres in Austin, Mexico City, and beyond.
